Ken got his
'new ride' today, and we are perfecting the 2-person transfer
from bed to chair, so no more lift. Took it out for a walk this
afternoon,
it takes the sidewalk cracks a lot better than the old chair and is
much
easier to push. however, on returning to the hospital, the fire
trucks were
again there, and again the fire alarm was sounding, and again we
couldn't
use the elevators to go to the 7th floor. Had about a 10 minute wait
in the
lobby which was not too bad - just curious that it happened 2 days
in a row.
Ken had a visit from a former BCI classmate today. Elisa Johnstone
came up
to see him (her brother Kyle played football with Ken). She had been
in
Istanbul working as a governess and had heard from her brother about
Ken.
Was a nice visit, although Ken wondered if it would be 'awkward'
since he
has not seen her in a long time. (but it wasn't awkward at all)
He also does not have a 'sitter' anymore. Another step towards St.
Mary's
and rehab. just needs to keep his cup of water, TV, Kleenex box and
call
bell within reach.
Take care everyone, Wendy
