Ken Gottfried suffered a life-threatening head injury as a result of
an incident on May 18, 2008 in Brockville, Ontario. Emergency
Neurosurgery saved his life. He has sustained what Doctors expect to
be permanent disabilities. Through the power of prayer and with the
world-class medical attention of the Kingston General Hospital, he
has survived the initial injuries, and is progressing well.
Although he is yet unable to speak, he is in the preliminary stages
of communicating. The Family celebrates small accomplishments on a
daily basis, and wishes to thank everyone for their support and
requests continued prayer. Many details of Ken’s condition were
withheld pending the Police investigation and legal proceedings.
Ken was home for the weekend of May 18th to celebrate two joyous
events: his brother’s birthday, and a good friends’ engagement. Ken
has found his passion in life, and graduated with over a 90 percent
average only two weeks earlier from Liaison College of Culinary Arts
in Kingston. He had started employment to pursue his career the week
prior to his injury.
Ken faces a long and challenging recuperation and rehabilitation. As
a result of the injury, multiple strokes have caused significant
paralysis. Residential adaptations for Ken’s care and recovery will
be required.
The Gottfrieds' are the owners of The Carpet Revival Centre Ltd. and
have been active in the community for 30 years. They wish to impress
upon the community how poor judgment and negative choices can have
life-altering consequences for many. Positive attitudes and
reinforcement can overcome many hurdles and this has been evident in
Ken’s recovery thus far. Detailed updates will be released only
through direct contact of immediate family members. The Gottfried's
pray that this tragic incident will impress upon people the
importance of Faith, Family, and Friends.
Only miracles and concentrated rehabilitation will eventually allow
Ken to achieve the goals that any young 25 year old person would set
for their life.

What an amazing day, with a lot of great
entertainment for every age group.
Ken was able to attend the opening ceremonies and what a moral boost
that was for him.
Vickie and her group did a fabulous job on the silent auction with many
many thanks to all of the businesses who contributed to this event,
just far too many to mention.
And the kids games outside were a big hit with the younger children.
Kudos to Stacey and Will who played a major role in organizing this
extremely successful event and to all of the volunteers who helped
to make this all possible.
It was so inspiring to see how the Brockville community came
together in a time of need!
